Warriors Blank Chaffey On the Road

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIF. - After having their past three games postponed due to rain, the Warriors showed no lack of focus and defeated Chaffey 4-0 on the road on Thursday afternoon.

El Camino (3-1) posted their first shutout of the season in the win over the Panthers (1-2).  

Elizabeth Cortez picked up the win in the circle after tossing 6 innings and scattering six hits, two walks, and striking out one batter.  

Diamond Lewis and Jocelyn Hernandez led the offense with two hits a piece.  Marissa Garza, Kassidy Robinson, Brooklyn Araujo, and Fiona Mutu each picked up a hit in the contest.  Hernandez also pitched the final inning for the Warriors.

The Warriors struck first in the second inning after Robinson hit a one out single and stole second base.  Hernandez reached the bases via an error and Robinson scored on the play to make it 1-0.

El Camino added one more run in the 5th inning.  Hernandez led the inning off with a a single. Araujo sac bunted her over to second and Hernandez advanced to third on a passed ball.  Diamond Lewis singled to bring Hernandez in to make it 2-0.

The Warriors would go on to add two more runs in the 7th inning.  Hernandez, Araujo, and Fiona Mutu singled in three straight at-bats to make it a 3-0 game.  Lewis walked to make it bases loaded again before Sidra Montoya grounded out to third to bring in the final run of the game and make it a 4-0 game.

The Warriors home opener will continue to be delayed one more week.  A triangle series that was scheduled with Orange Coast College and Santa Barbara College for Friday has been postponed. The Warriors next home game is scheduled for Monday, February 11th vs Ventura.  First-pitch is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
