Warriors Dominate L.A. Harbor for Second Straight Conference Win

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College took a big lead early and cruised from there to score an 8-0 South Coast Conference, South Division victory over L.A. Harbor Thursday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors put up six runs in the second inning to break the game wide open and then tacked on two more in the fifth to score the walk-off, run-rule win over the Seahawks.

Seven of the nine Warriors starters recorded a hit and Diamond Lewis had two RBI to lead the team. Helaina Gallardo and Karla Calderonn each went 2-for-2 with a run scored and one RBI.

Clarissa Chiquete scored the complete-game shutout victory for the Warriors. She scattered five hits and struck out three in the win.

The Warriors opened the floodgates in the second inning as Kassidy Robinson and Gallardo reached with one out in the frame. Calderon then belted a double to left field to score Robinson and open the scoring. After a pop up for the second out, Lewis stepped in and doubled to left to clear the bases and give ECC a 3-0 lead.

Lewis would steal third and then Ashley Machado singled to right to score Lewis for a 4-0 lead. Machado stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher before Annie Adamos cashed her in with a double to center field. She would then come in to score as she stole third and drew a bad throw from the catcher, allowing Adamos to score on the error and put the Warriors up 6-0.

In the fifth, Alena De La Torre recorded an RBI single to center and then Gallardo had the walk-off RBI single to give the Warriors the 8-0 win in five innings.

The Warriors will return to action on Saturday at the ECC Softball Field. They will host Fullerton and College of the Canyons beginning at 10 a.m.
