TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College mustered a 1-1 draw against visiting Cypress on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors outplayed the visiting Chargers in the first half and took a 1-0 lead in the first 45 minutes but Cypress returned the favor in the second with the bulk of the action taking place in the Warriors' defensive end. A penalty kick for Cypress in the 76th minute would draw the match even and that's the way it ended.

In the first half, the Warriors outshot the Chargers 6-2 with a 2-0 edge in shots on target. Sophomore Jaden Hancock netted his second goal of the season in the 20th minute on an outstanding set-piece as Nathan Ventura lofted a free kick to the right side of the box where Amir Dawkins touched it to the middle of the box where Hancock was charging. A right-footed blast beat Chargers' keeper Demian Baldovinos for a 1-0 ECC lead.

But the Chargers came out blasting in the second half, outshooting the Warriors 10-7 in the final 45 minutes of action. They applied constant pressure in the second and were rewarded with a penalty kick after a foul in the box in the 76th minute.

Erik Hernandez would fire it past Warriors keeper Luis Avelar to level the match and that's the way it would end after 90 minutes.

Avelar made three saves on the day as his record moved to 1-1-2 on the season. Hancock and Dawkins each led the Warriors with four shots with Hancock firing three of his attempts on target.

The Warriors will wrap up the week on Friday at Palomar. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
