Warriors Demolish Compton to Open Conference Play

TORRANCE, Calif. - The undefeated No.2 ranked El Camino College opened up South Coast Conference play in style after posting a 6-0 victory over Compton College at home on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

After a narrow 1-0 advantage in the first half, the Warriors (10-0, 1-0) came out firing on all cylinders in the second half to score five goals.  The Warriors outshot Compton (2-7-2, 0-1) 21-to-12 for the game.  The Warriors had 14 shots on goal compared to the Tartar's two.  Sixteen of the Warriors shots came in the second half.

Luis Garibay had an easy day on the pitch and had two saves for the game.

The Warriors scored their first goal in the 26th minute when Brandon Bautista scored his fourth of the season.  Richard Andrade played a through ball to Bautista who tapped the ball into the left corner.

The Warriors scored their first goal in the second half in the 62nd minute.  Luis Garibay booted the ball to the opposite side of the field and Mario Carlos was able to latch onto it and beat three Compton defenders before rifling his shot past the keeper into the lower left corner. 

The Warriors scored their third goal in the 76th minute on Justin Ortega's second goal of the season.  Ortega got the ball near midfield and played a ball down the right side to Andy Cabrera. Cabrera played it back to Ortega who one timed the shot into the right side of the goal.  

The Warriors got their fourth goal in the 83rd minute. David Gutierrez headed the ball from midfield to Issei Yamakawa who played a through ball to Mario Carlos.  The Compton keeper got to the ball first but cleared it right to Brian Park who shot it into the open net.  

The Warriors scored two more goals in the dying minutes of the game both from Richard Andrade. Arnett Matsuzaki played a ball down the right side to Andrade.  He beat three defenders dribbling back to the middle of the box before curling a shot into the far left corner.  Andrade would add his second goal of the game a minute later.  He stole a ball at midfield and dribbled past four Compton defenders before burying a shot in the right corner to seal the victory for the Warriors.  

The undefeated Warriors will finish the week off with a game against Rio Hondo College.  Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM at the ECC Soccer Field.
