TORRANCE, Calif. - After drawing in their last three matches, the Warriors finally got back into the win column with a 2-0 victory over the visiting Pasadena City College Lancers on Tuesday night.

The Warriors (9-1-4, 2-1-3) defense held strong for their seventh clean sheet of the season.  Juan Montes stepped up to make his first career start of the season and got the clean sheet making five saves in the process.

The Warriors held possession for most of the first half but in the second half the Lancers (7-8-2, 1-4-1) held an even share of the ball.  The Warriors defense had previously conceded four second half goals in the previous two games, but they were able to hold their nerve in the contest.

The Warriors scored both of their goals in the first half.  On a Pasadena turnover, Oliver Diaz played a quick ball to Larry Lopez who played a through ball to a streaking Kalyl Silva down the left side and Silva was able to chip the goalkeeper to the far right corner for his fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0.

The Warriors doubled their advantage six minutes later.  Melvyn Perez-Cortez threw a ball into the box that an unmarked Oscar Diaz easily headed into the right corner of the net to make it 2-0.

There were seven cards issued in the match.  Three yellow cards issued to the Lancers, and three yellow cards and one red card issued to the Warriors.

The Warriors are currently sitting in fourth place in the South Coast Conference standings.  Mt. Sac and Cerritos are the top two teams in the conference. Long Beach drew 3-3 with Compton and is at 11 points.  The Warriors are sitting in fourth place with 9 points.

The Warriors will head to Compton College for their last road game of the regular season on Friday, November 1st.  Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
