Men’s Basketball Downed at Home by Long Beach

El Camino College dug itself into a first-half hole and could not recover in a 109-93 South Coast Conference, South Division loss to Long Beach Wednesday night at the ECC North Gym.

The Warriors fell behind by 17 points after one half of play and could not make up the deficit despite winning the second half. Justin Reyes and Richard Wilson led the Warriors with 20 points apiece while Jason Vasquez added 17 to go along with three steals. Jamal Howard scored 12 points in 12 minutes off the bench.

For the Vikings, Jace Bass led the way with 25 points including 19 in the second half. He flirted with a triple-double as he pulled down nine rebounds and dished out seven assists. Jamiu Akinbile scored 22 points and Matthew Wooten recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Warriors will close out the 2018-19 regular season Friday night as they welcome Compton College to the ECC North Gym. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
