Bio

Derrek Duarte enters his first season as an assistant with the Warriors in 2019.

Duarte played three years on the varsity squad at El Segundo High School. As a starter, he received All-League honors in his junior and senior seasons. He led the team in RBIs and won the Craig Cousins Award while being selected to play in the South Bay All-Star game as a senior.

Duarte continued his playing career at El Camino College, where he was selected to play in the freshman all-star game and was named All-Conference as a catcher his sophomore season.

Following El Camino College, Duarte moved on to play at Cal State Dominguez Hills where he started as a catcher and helped lead his team to two regional appearances.

In 2010, Duarte started his coaching career as the hitting and catching coach at El Segundo High School.

In 2013 he went back to CSUDH to coach hitting and catching under the guidance of Toros’ Head Coach Murphy Sua’.  In 2016 he followed Sua’ to Palos Verdes High School as an assistant coach.

The following year he was named the head coach of Palos Verdes High School where he ran the baseball program for two years.
