Warriors Take Series over Compton

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball team won their 5th South Coast Conference series in a row as they defeated the Compton Tartars 6-4 at home on Thursday at Warrior Field.

The Warriors improved to 24-8 and 12-5 in conference play.  The Warriors will look to sweep their third series in a row on Saturday at Compton.

Jack Snyder picked up the win after twirling 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on five hits, three walks, and striking out five.  James Kobylt pitched three innings of relief and Julian Diaz picked up his 8th save of the season.  Julian Bertinti took the loss for the Tartars.

Four different Warriors had multi-hit games as a part of their 10-hit day.  Julio Camerena led the team with a 3-for-4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Dylan Knowles was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI.  Jonah Storey was 2-for-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs.  Juan Carlo Camerena had two hits.  Crixtian Taveras led the Tartars with a 4-for-5 day.

The Tartars took the lead in the 1st inning after a solo bomb by former Warrior Crixtian Taveras.  However, the Warriors responded in the bottom half of the inning after Daniel Murillo had a productive RBI groundout to score Julio Camerena.

After loading the bases in the second inning, Dylan Knowles singled in one run to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.

The Warriors put up three more runs in the third inning after Compton added one run in the third as well.  Daniel Murillo and Theo Forshey led the inning off with walks.  Jonah Storey crushed his first home run of the season with a 3-run bomb to left field.

The Warriors would add one more insurance run in the sixth after Jake Harper led the inning off with a triple off the RF fence.  Julo Camerena singled him in to make it a 6-2 game.

Compton would add two more runs in the 7th but that would be the last runs scored in the game.

The Warriors will look to finish off the series sweep on Saturday, April 9th at Compton College.  First pitch is set for 12:00 P.M.
