Warriors Take Series against Santa Barbara

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College scored a 4-2 non-conference victory over Santa Barbara on Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The victory clinched the series for the Warriors (11-6) despite stranding 10 runners on base and hitting into three double plays, thanks in large part to the duo of Jack Snyder and Julian Diaz holding the Vaqueros (10-5) to just two runs and recording 11 strikeouts.

Snyder grinded out his third victory of the season as he went 6 and 1/3 innings and allowed one run on four hits. He did issue five walks on the day but manage to cancel most of those out with eight strikeouts.

Diaz picked up his fifth save of the year as he recorded the last eight outs, allowing just one run on three hits. He walked one and struck out three.

The Warriors got RBI singles from Jonah Storey and Theo Forshey to get out to a 2-0 lead after three innings.

The Vaqueros got one back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, making it 2-1. The score stayed that way until the sixth when Jake Harper hit a high chopper back to the mound with runners at the corners in the sixth inning. Ethan Felix broke for home as the pitcher leaped into the air to snag the ball, but his only play was to first base as Felix scored and made it 3-1.

In the eighth, each team scored a run and Diaz retired the side in the ninth to secure the victory.

The Warriors will now head to Santa Barbara for game three of the series, looking to record the sweep. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
