Warriors Drop Series Finale at Mt. Sac

Warriors Drop Series Finale at Mt. Sac

WALNUT, Calif. - El Camino College couldn't complete a South Coast Conference opening round series sweep of Mt. Sac on Friday afternoon as they fell 4-0 at Art Mazmanian Field. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved due to Friday due to impending rain.

After outscoring the Mounties (10-4, 1-2) 13-to-8 in the first two games of the series, the Warriors (8-6, 2-1) were held scoreless in the final game of the three-game set.

Just like in the previous game, the Mounties had one big offensive inning due to errors committed by the Warrior's defense.  After getting the first two outs in the third inning, the Warriors committed two errors that led to three runs being scored.

Aaron Orozco took the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) on two hits, five walks, and two strikeouts in five innings of work.  Neil Feist and Kyle Hatai combined to throw three scoreless innings in relief.

Diego Barrera got the win for the Mounties after shutting out the Warriors for nine innings and allowing just four hits, two walks, and fanning eight batters.

Aaron Orozco, Chris Villavicencio, Chase Cosner, and Jimmy Galicia were the only Warriors to manage a hit for the game.

The Mounties got on board first in the first inning after Cameron White brought in Cole Jordan on a sac fly after Jordan had a one-out triple.

The Mounties added three runs in the fourth inning to make it 4-0.  Orozco got the first two batters out of the inning before an error to first extended the inning. Orozco walked the next batter before a triple by Dylan Zavala and a Warrior error brought in all three runners.

The Warriors will start a three-game series with Cerritos next week.  The Warriors return home to face the Falcons at Warrior Field on Tuesday, February 25th.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
