Baseball Drops Home Game vs Chaffey

TORRANCE, Calif. - The Warriors let the game get away from them early in a 13-3 loss at home against Chaffey College on Thursday afternoon.

The Warriors (26-6, 14-5 SCC) pitching staff could not contain the Panthers (21-12, 11-8 SCC) offense as Chaffey scored thirteen runs on fourteen hits and five walks.

Jimmy Galicia picked up the loss after surrendering six runs on seven hits.  Galicia was plagued by control issues all game and walked four batters and hit two batters.  Elias Jauregui kept the Warriors offense hamstrung and picked up the win and quality start for the Panthers after giving up three runs on five hits, two walks, and striking out four batters.

Chaffey scored four runs in the third inning and added two more in the fourth inning before the Warriors were able to get one run back to make a it 6-1 game.

The Panthers added three runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth inning to blow the game open.  The Warriors were only able to add two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Warriors split the series with Chaffey after winning seven conference series in a row and dropping their first two conference games against Mt. Sac.  With the Vikings win over Cerritos on Thursday, the Vikings move into a half game lead over the Warriors with a 14-4 conference record.

The Warriors now have a slate of four non conference games.  They head to LA Mission on Saturday before hosting three games next week.  First pitch for saturday is set for 1:00 PM.
