Bio

Le Valley Pattison begins her eighth season as the head coach of the beach volleyball program in 2024. She has held the position since the inception of the program in 2016.

Pattison previously coached the women's indoor volleyball program for 26 years. The 2014 season put Pattison in the 400-win club. Overall, she has a career record of 404-125, and has been named south coast conference Coach of the Year 14 times.

The Warriors were Conference Champions in 2015, bringing the number of conference championships to 16 under Pattison. 

Pattison is a product of the South Bay growing up in Manhattan Beach and attending Mira Costa High School where she was on a team that attained one of the school’s many CIF Championships. She began her collegiate career as a setter for the University of Santa Barbara in 1982. In 1982, she transferred to ECC where she captured the regional and state tournament MVP awards for the Warriors. El Camino won the state title that season with a 16-0 record. Le Valley went on to play at Long Beach State from 1984-85. Both years the 49ers competed in the NCAA tournament.

Pattison graduated from LBSU in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis on coaching and fitness. In 1990 she earned her masters degree in administration from National University.

After competing for Long Beach State, Le Valley went on to compete on the professional beach volleyball tour from 1986 – 1991. In the summer of 1992 Pattison began working for the Women’s Professional Volleyball Association (WPVA) tour as tour director, she also worked with the Olympic Challenge Series and with the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) touring the country.

Pattison’s first coaching job was at Mira Costa High School in 1987 as an assistant, the Mustangs were one of the top ranked teams in the state. The opportunity to coach Division I Volleyball opened in 1987-1990. Pattison worked with head coach Nina Matthies at Pepperdine University. The Waves were Western Athletic Conference Champions all four years and made the NCAA Playoffs each season she was with the team. In 1997 Pattison was inducted into the El Camino College Athletic Hall of Fame.

The AVCA named Le Valley the 2004, 2006 and 2008 Regional Coach of the Year. She was also the Southern Section Coach of the Year in 2008. In 2012, Pattison was awarded the Lifetime Coaching Achievement award from the CCCAA (California Community College Athletic Association).

Along with her coaching duties, she teaches a plethora of physical education classes at ECC.
