Jacobson, Gonzales Earn All-American Nods as Warriors Wrap Season at State Championships

FRESNO, Calif. --- El Camino College wrapped up the 2023 season at the 3C2A State Championships on Saturday morning at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif.

The women's team got outstanding performances from Ami Jacobson and Sequoia Gonzales one last time to help the Warriors finish in 10th place amongst 43 teams competing.

In addition, the two sophomores were named 3C2A First Team All Americans for their performances. Jacobson placed fourth overall with a time of 18:12.0, a new personal best. It marked the first time this season that she was the best finisher for the Warriors in a race. At one point, Jacobson was at the front of the pack after the first 3/4 of a mile.

Gonzales, who was the Warriors top finisher in every race leading up to the state championships, finished just behind Jacobson in fifth place. Gonzales posted a time of 18:14.5.

On the men's side, the Warriors placed 17th overall out of 36 teams competing. Alan Canales and Aaron Cohen paced the Warriors as they both crossed the finish line in 21:35.9, good for 44th and 45th respectively.
