Women 2nd, Men 4th at the South Coast Conference Championships

RESULTS

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors Cross Country team hosted the South Coast Conference Championships on Friday.  The Warriors women cross country team came in second place and the men placed a solid fourth place.  Both teams advance to next week's Southern California Regional Championships.

The women ran very well on Friday and had three finishers in the Top 7. Mt. Sac won the race with 40 points and El Camino came in close behind them with 49 points.  Sequoia Gonzalez came in 2nd place with a time of 19:45 behind the winner from Mt. Sac, Hannah Brown, who ran a 19:27.  Ami Jacobson came in 5th place with a time of 20:49.  Rania Gomaa came in 7th place with a time of 21:24.  Haidee Lopez came in 18th place with a time of 23:21 and Brianna Johnson came in 19th place with a time of 23:33.

The men came in 4th place led by Stephen Hansen's 5th place individual finish. Mt. Sac won the team race with 16 points and Hansen's 5th place finish prevented the Mounties from having all top-5 finishers.  Dominic Marino came in 12th place with a time of 23:58. James Neely came in 42nd place with a time of 26:51 and Josh Carillo in 44th place with a time of 27:11. In his first ever official race, Kai Hajir came in 63rd place and was the fifth El Camino finisher with a time of 30:34.

The Warriors will race next at the Southern California Championship held at Kern County Soccer Park.
