Sequoia Gonzalez Leads Warriors to Chaffey Invitational Title
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors cross country team captured their first title of the season as the Warriors women's team won the Chaffey Invitational on Saturday at the campus of Chaffey College.
Sequoia Gonzalez came in 1st place for the women and led the team to its first place finish. Gonzalez ran 19:36, almost 30 seconds ahead of the next finisher. Ami Jacobson came in third place with a time of 20:34. Rania Gomaa came in fourth place with a time of 21:32. Brianna Johnson came in 6th place with a time of 23:01. Haidee Lopez came in seventh place with a time of 23:02 to round out the top five.
The men's team came in fourth place overall in the 4-mile race. Stephen Hanson had his best finish of the year after coming in third place with a time of 22:16. Dominic Marino came in 8th place with a time of 23:13 to give the Warriors two top-10 finishers. Josh Carillo came in 24th place with a time of 25:30. Yahir Hernandez came in 42nd place with a time of 29:51. Urban Heman came in 44th place with a time of 30:21.
The Warriors will next compete at the Mt. Sac Invitational on Friday, October 14th.
