Warriors Cross Country Competes at Mt. Sac Invitational

WALNUT, Calif. - The El Camino College men and women's cross country teams competed at the Mt. Sac Invitational on Friday, October 15th. Although there were multiple teams from across the state present, many teams on both sides did not have enough runners to qualify for the team race.  The Warriors women's team came in sixth place and the men's team came in sixth place as well. 

Meghan Wright was the top finisher for the Warriors and came in the 42nd place with a time of 23:25.  Haidee Lopez came in 48th place with a time of 24:09.  Rania Gaama came in 51st place with a time of 25:04. Corra Hesson came in 55th place with a time of 25:41. Tea Takoaka came in 59th place with a time of 27:39.

In the men's race, Hartnell College came in 1st place in the team's race and Elijah Ocegueda came in 1st place individually with a time of 21:22. Anthony Gil was the top finisher for the Warriors and came in 20th place with a time of 22:55.  Arend Verfaillie came in 22nd place with a time of 22:56.  Stephen Hansen came in 42nd place with a time of 23:54.  Adrian Sixtos came in 89th place with a time of 26:33.  And Shota Shimuza wrapped up the Warrior's top five with a time of 27:16.

The Warriors next race is the South Coast Conference Championships in two weeks on Friday, October 29th. It will take place at Wilson Park in Torrance, Calif.
