Warriors X-Country Places Fifth at So Cal Regional Championships

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No.5 ranked El Camino College men's cross country team lived up to their ranking and came in fifth place at the Southern California Regional Championships held in Mission Bay, San Diego on Friday morning.  

Top seeded San Diego Mesa College won the men's 4-mile run with a score of 30 points.  Mt Sac came in second with 100 points, Glendale came in third with 113 points, Riverside came in fourth with 181 points, and El Camino College came in fifth with 192 points.

Stefen Rasmuson of San Diego Mesa won the 4-mile run with a time of 20:49.  Michael Yaskowitz was the top Warrior finisher for the race and came in 10th place with a time of 21:45.  Manny Gil came in 14th place with a time of 21:51. Farooq Tariq was the third Warrior finisher and came in 27th place with a time of 22:06. Jonathan Cruz was the fourth finisher and came in 70th place with a time of 22:59. Brian Huang rounded out the top-5 finishers for the Warriors with a time of 23:16.

For the women's race, Carmen Hernandez individually qualified for the CCCAA State Championships.  Hernandez came in 72nd place with a time of 22:29.

The Warriors will have a week off before heading to Fresno for the CCCAA State Championships.  The meet will be held at Woodward Park, in Fresno, Calif.
