Men’s X-Country Finishes Second at South Coast Conference Championships

ORANGE, Calif. -  The El Camino College Men's Cross Country came in second place at the 2019 South Coast Conference Championships held at Irvine Regional Park in Orange, Calif. this past weekend.  

Mt. Sac came in first place with 27 points overall.  The Warriors finished in a solid second place with 56 points.  LA Harbor came in third place with 87 points.

Isaiah Wilson of Mt. Sac won the 4-mile run with a time of 21:53.  Manny Gil led the Warriors with a third place finish with a time of 22:07.  Michael Yaskowitz was right behind him in fourth place with a time of 22:15.  Farooq Tariq came in 13th place with a time of 22:54. Jonathan Cruz came in 18th place with a time of 23:21.  Yahia Liban was the fifth finisher for the Warriors and came in 22nd place with a time of 23:44.

Carmen Hernandez came in 13th place in the women's race with a time of 23:31.  Marai Atanacio of LA Harbor won the individual 5K run with a time of 21:24.   For the first time this season, the women fielded a full team and came in sixth place. They missed the auto-qualifying spot for the So Cal Championships by only 10 points.

Manny Gil and Michael Yaskowitz have been named to the All-SCC First Team by virtue of finishing in the top seven places.  Farooq Tariq was named to the All-SCC Second Team. Carmen Hernandez was named to the All-SCC Second Team.

The No.5 state ranked Warriors now head to the 28-team field Southern California Regional Championships held in Mission Bay Park in San Diego, Calif on Friday, November 8th.  The top 10 teams automatically advance from this Friday to the CCCAA State Championships in Fresno on Saturday Nov 23rd.
