Women Finish Second, Men Take Third at Irvine Brubaker Invitational

The El Camino College cross country team competed in their fourth race of the season on Friday at the Irvine "Brubaker" Invitational at Irvine Regional Park in Irvine, Calif. The women's team placed second overall in the team competition while the men took third place. 

Savannah Sehenuk led the Warriors with a third place finish on the 5,000m course, clocking in at 20:06.  Top-five ranked Riverside City College won the overall race for the women.  Two other runners placed in the top ten as Deana Takoaka came in fifth place at 20:33 and Brianna Harmon sixth place at 20:44.  Sarah Simpson (17th; 21:55) and Larae Richardson (56th; 27:23) rounded out the top 5 finishes for El Camino.

On the men's side, El Camino was narrowly edged for third place behind CCCAA State Champions Riverside City College and the hosts Santa Ana College.  Carson Bix led the ECC men with a third place finish with a time of 21:31 over the 4-mile course.  Michael Yaskowitz came in close behind finishing fifth in 21:34. Matt Arruda (20th; 22:32), Caleb Ko (21st, 22:35), and Mijo Sestich (25th, 22:39) rounded out the top-5 finishes for the men's team. 

The Warriors will return to action next weekend on Saturday, October 14th at the Mt. Sac Invitational.
