TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College fell behind big in the first half and could not recover in a 12-5 South Coast Conference loss to East Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.

The Warriors (1-7, 1-1) fell behind 9-2 at halftime and could never catch up against the Huskies. Jackie Calhoun led the Warriors with three goals while Polina Pumier and Brooke Baudendistel added one apiece for ECC in the losing effort.

For the Huskies, Isabella Pizana led all scorers with five goals and Jimena Vargas added three.

The Warriors found themselves in a quick 4-0 hole in the first quarter as the Huskies defense kept the Warriors from getting any quality chances in the first five minutes of the match.

Calhoun finally broke through with 2:32 left in the first to make it 4-1 and each team would add another to make it 5-2 ELAC after one.

But the struggles continued in the second as the Huskies scored four unanswered goals in the period to take a 9-2 lead and the Warriors never recovered.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 4 with a road contest at Cerritos.
