Women’s Water Polo Finishes Seventh at Conference Championships

El Camino College finished the regular season with a 10-7 victory over Rio Hondo in the seventh-place game at the South Coast Conference Championships.

Sonni Garcia scored half of the Warriors' goals on Saturday with Sophia Caravello adding three in the victory. Caravello also made seven saves in two quarters patrolling the net while Alexa Modry made five saves in two quarters of action while adding one goal. Kat Reyes scored ECC's other goal in the win.

The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter but went scoreless in the second quarter. The Warriors only got one goal in the third from Reyes as Rio Hondo trailed 8-6 after three but Reyes' goal proved to be the deciding tally as Caravello added two of her three goals in the fourth for insurance.

The Warriors finish the 2019 regular season with a 5-17 record and 1-8 mark in conference play. Garcia led the team with 55 goals, 18 assists, 84 steals and 27 field blocks. Reyes finished with 26 goals, 12 assists and 34 steals and Modry had 18 goals, 14 assists and 43 steals in their first seasons with ECC.

Sophia Caravello finished with a 51.5 save percentage and 205 saves as the primary goalie for the Warriors.
