Women’s Water Polo Drops Opener to Cerritos

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College struggled offensively in a 16-3 South Coast Conference loss to visiting Cerritos Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Pool.

The Warriors (0-1) were outshot 27-17 by the Falcons and were outscored 7-1 in the opening period, essentially putting the game out of reach early.

The powerplays were also a big factor in the Warriors' offensive woes as the team went 0-7 with the advantage while the Falcons were 3-for-6.

Sophomore Sonni Garcia led the team with two goals and assisted Alexa Modry's goal. Garcia also added a team-high five steals. Modry and Kat Reyes added three steals while Trinity McKee added a pair of thefts.

Sophia Caravello made six saves for the Warriors in her ECC debut and added two steals in the loss.

The Warriors will return to action on Sept. 25 with a road contest at Mount San Antonio.
