Warriors Swept at South Coast Conference Championships

El Camino College went into the South Coast Conference Championships as the No. 7 seed and faced a tough task in its first match of the day against No. 2 seed Mount San Antonio.

Mt. SAC 14, ECC 3

The Warriors fell into a deep hole early and never recovered, falling by a wide margin to the No. 2 seeded Mounties. Ilene Guerrero scored two of the Warriors' three goals with Andrea Canchola recording the other tally. Taylor Baird had three saves in the loss.

The Mounties scored four unanswered goals to open the match in the first quarter before Guerrero found the back of the net to bring ECC within three after one. But the Mounties continued to score and took a 7-1 lead at the half. They would outscore the Warriors 7-1 in the third quarter to put the match out of reach and send the Warriors to the consolation bracket to face Pasadena.

Pasadena 8, ECC 4

The Lancers shut down the Warriors offense in the first half, holding ECC scoreless after two periods. Meanwhile, Pasadena got three of their four first-half goals from Yesenia Marin to take a big lead.

After another Lancers goal made it 5-0 in the third, Elizabeth Guerrero scored a power-play goal to finally put the Warriors on the board and make it 5-1.

Trailing 6-1 entering the fourth, the Warriors mounted a final stand as they scored the first two goals of the period with Canchola and Ilene Guerrero finding the back of the net to make it a 6-3 deficit. But the Lancers scored the next two to secure the win and they advanced to the fifth-place match on Saturday.

Solee Scarlet notched the other goal for the Warriors in the loss while Baird made 12 saves in net.
