Canchola and Guerrero Net a Pair but Warriors Fall to Pasadena

TORRANCE, Calif. – Andrea Canchola and Ilene Guerrero each had multi-goal days but it was not enough as El Camino College fell to Pasadena, 7-5, in a South Coast Conference match Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Pool.

The Warriors (3-17, 1-6) also got a goal from Sabrina Byrne and seven saves in net from goalie Taylor Baird in the loss to the Lancers.

Both teams could not find the back of the net in the first quarter as the match was scoreless after eight minutes of play. It took another four minutes before the Lancers finally broke open the scoring, finding the net three straight times to take a 3-0 lead in the second. Guerrero put the Warriors on the board with 15 seconds left in the half to bring the Warriors within two at the half.

The Warriors trimmed the lead to one in the third thanks to goals from Byrne and Guerrero to make it a 4-3 contest, but the Lancers tacked on another goal to regain the two-goal cushion going into the final period.

Both teams managed just one goal in the fourth with Canchola netting her second for ECC in the period but it was not enough to overtake Pasadena.

The Warriors return to action Thursday afternoon as they host Cuesta at the ECC Pool at 3 p.m.
