Bio

Lauren Edwards joined the Warriors women’s indoor volleyball coaching staff in 2014 under LeValley Pattison along with current head coach Liz Hazell. Edwards enters her sixth season on the staff and third under Hazell in 2019. In addition, Edwards has been on the ECC beach volleyball coaching staff since the inception of the program in 2016. 

Edwards played for the Warriors in 2010 and 2011, becoming one of the best players to come out of the women’s volleyball program. In 2010, she finished second on the team with 210 kills, averaging 2.59 kills per set while hitting at a .365 clip. Edwards helped lead the team to a 25-3 overall record and 14-0 mark in conference.

Edwards stepped her game up as a sophomore, earning a spot on the All-State team in 2011. She posted 296 kills on the year. She also posted 43 blocks to lead the Warriors and added 197 digs, a 3.17 per-set average. The team finished third in the state tournament that year after going 25-4 overall and 14-0 in conference for a second straight South Coast Conference crown. Edwards finished her Warriors career with 506 kills, the seventh player in ECC history at the time to record 500 kills in a career.

After her time at El Camino College, Edwards transferred to Azusa Pacific University where she played her junior and senior seasons.

In 2012, Edwards played in 31 matches, making 30 starts. She was fourth on the team with 204 kills, averaging 1.89 per set. She played in 117 sets and was second on the team with 51 total blocks (14 solo). She also posted 28 assists, 17 aces, 62 digs.

As a senior, Edwards played in 36 matches, making 34 starts and playing in 97 sets. She posted another 200-kill season, hitting the number on the nose to finish her volleyball career with at least 200 kills in every season she played. She finished second on the team again with 78 total blocks (13 solo). Edwards added 24 assists and four aces in her final year and helped lead the team to a runner-up finish in the NCCAA National Championships.  

Edwards graduated from West Torrance High School where she played volleyball for four years.
