Five Women’s Volleyball Players Named All-Conference

2022 WVB All-Conference Selections

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College had five players selected to the 2022 All-South Coast Conference Team, it was announced Thursday.

Leafa Juarez, Jayden Zabala and Alex Perryman were all named to the All-SCC First Team while Makaela Wilson and Athina Sarreas each earned All-SCC Second Team honors.

Juarez nabbed her second straight All-SCC selection after earning a second-team nod as a freshman. This season, she led the conference with a 3.74 kills per set average and also averaged 3.0 digs per set. She led the Warriors overall with 295 kills and added 238 digs, the most for a Warriors non-libero player. She posted 11 double-doubles including four straight to wrap up the regular season. Juarez also led the team with 33 service aces and added 19 blocks.

Zabala also got her second All-SCC nod after a second-team selection in 2021. The sophomore setter led the SCC with a 9.4 assists per set average, a mark that ranked eighth overall in the state during the regular season. She dished out 744 assists overall and added 157 digs and 11 blocks. She posted five double-doubles and set a new career mark with 57 assists on Oct. 28 at East Los Angeles. It was her second career 50-plus assist performance with the first coming one game prior against Cerritos at home on Oct. 26.

Perryman was a breakout star for the Warriors in 2022. One year removed from playing in just 35 sets, the sophomore played all 21 matches for the Warriors this season and 74 sets overall. She was second on the team with 210 kills and attacked at a blistering .330 kill percentage. She was second on the team with 33 total blocks and first with nine solo stuffs. Perryman added 25 service aces which was third on the squad and 77 digs. She set a career high with 20 kills on Oct. 28 at East Los Angeles and posted a kill percentage above .400 eight times during the year in matches she had double-digit attempts.

Wilson earned her first career All-SCC selection after playing in all 21 matches for the Warriors. She was third on the team with 137 kills and was fifth on the team with 16 service aces. She was third on the team with 234 digs total digs and a 2.94 digs per set average. She also added 13 blocks on the season.

Sarreas also earned her first All-SCC selection as she played in every match for the Warriors this season. She led the team with 40 blocks (seven solo) and was fourth on the team with 21 service aces. She added 88 kills and was second on the team with a .318 attack percentage.
