Clark Goes Off Again as Warriors Outlast Fullerton in Five

Sophomore Mikayla Clark carried the El Camino College offense as the Warriors outlasted Fullerton 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12) on Saturday morning at Fullerton College.

Fresh off setting a career high the night before with 22 kills, Clark proved to be an early riser as she obliterated that mark with 28 kills against the Hornets. She also recorded her third straight double-double of the week and fifth in the first six matches of the season as she had 17 digs.

Jocelyn Lacroix added 12 kills on 36 swings, the only other Warriors player to reach double figures. Ginia Goods had her best offensive output of the season as the freshman smacked down seven kills. Caitlin Donatucci dished out 54 assists while Kelly Donatucci led the defense with 31 digs. The Warriors tallied 95 digs as a team, marking the third time they've recorded 70-plus digs in a match this season.

For the first time this week, the Warriors won the opening game of the match, edging the Hornets 26-24. But the Hornets responded by winning the next two sets, putting the Warriors on the brink.

This time, the Warriors answered the call and won the fourth and fifth sets by three points each.

The Warriors will return to action Friday morning as they host Grossmont and College of the Canyons for the annual ECC Three-Way Tournament at the ECC South Gym. First serve against Canyons is set for 11 a.m.
