Warriors Sweep Rio Hondo At Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - The #5 ranked El Camino College Warriors won their sixth game in a row by sweeping Rio Hondo College at home on Wednesday evening.

In 14 of their 16 wins, El Camino College (16-2, 5-0) have won in straight sets.  Tonight's contest was no different as the Warriors swept Rio Hondo (5-13, 1-4) 25-14, 25-17, 25-13.  

Phina Leilua led the Warriors with a double-double with 17 kills, 12 digs, and one block.  Meris Ewell had eight kills with three digs and one block. Caitlin Donatucci led the Warriors with 28 assists, Keri Isara had 14 assists. The Warriors were able to play 15 of the 18 players on the active roster.  

In the first set, El Camino jumped to an early 13-5 lead before Rio Hondo took a timeout.  The Warriors finished out the set 25-14.

The second set was evenly matched between both teams.  Rio Hondo went ahead 9-8 before the Warriors were able to turn the lead around into their favor at 11-9 before Rio Hondo called timeout.  The Warriors were able to close out the second set 25-17.

In the third set, the Warriors grabbed a big early lead at 9-4 and never looked back.  They finished off the Roadrunners 25-13 in the third and final set.

The Warriors will look to push their win streak to seven games when they take on Mt. San Antonio on Friday, October 26th.  The match is set to begin at 6:00 PM
