Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Past Cuesta

TORRANCE, Calif. – No. 3 El Camino College cruised to victory with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-16) non-conference decision over Cuesta Wednesday night at the ECC South Gym.

The Warriors (7-1) attacked at a .296 (36-12-81) clip and wreaked havoc with their serve, smacking 13 aces on the day to down the Cougars (3-7).

Phina Leilua led the way with 10 kills on 17 swings without an errors for a .588 attacking percentage in just two sets played. Caitlin Donatucci (16) and Keri Isara (12) dished out 28 of the team's 34 assists while Kelly Donatucci led the team with 10 digs and five service aces.

A number of Warriors got playing time on Wednesday with Deeann Smith netting four kills on eight attempts without a miscue and Brittany Ikobi added three kills on six swings and was a menace at the net with five blocks, all in the third set, the only frame she played.

The Warriors led wire-to-wire in the first two sets and then used an 11-1 scoring run in the third to put the match away to log their seventh win of the year.

They will return to action Friday night on the road as they take on East Los Angeles. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
