Women’s Volleyball Remains Unbeaten with Sweep at Cypress

CYPRESS, Calif. – El Camino College continued it's hot start to the season with an impressive 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Cypress College Wednesday night on the road.

The Warriors (4-0) have not dropped a set yet this season as they got another solid collective effort en route to a win over the Chargers (2-1).

"We did a great job moving the ball around and getting everyone involved," Warriors head coach Liz Hazell said. "Having that kind of balanced attack put pressure on the other team."

Phina Leilua led the charge with 11 kills, six digs, four aces and two blocks in a terrific all-around effort. Meris Ewell posted nine kills while Sophia Loiola and Mikayla Clark added eight apiece. Renee Brydon posted seven kills on the night with Keri Isara (18) and Caitlin Donatucci (17) combining for 35 assists.

Kelly Donatucci led a great defensive effort with 11 digs on the night while Jessica Jimenez added six digs.

"Our defense was super scrappy and helped extend plays all night," Hazell said.

After winning its first four road tests to start the year, the Warriors will have their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 12 against MiraCosta. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
