Waters Earns All-State and All-American Honors

Sophomore outside hitter Aiko Waters capped off a tremendous season with a pair of postseason accolades as she was named to the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Team along with a Third-Team All-America nod from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Waters was one of 12 athletes to receive All-State recognition and one of nine to earn AVCA All-America distinction at the two-year level. The honors come after she was named the co-MVP of the South Coast Conference-South Division as she helped lead the Warriors to the second round of the CCCAA Women's Volleyball State Championship Playoffs.

The native of Lawndale, Calif. played in all 25 matches for the Warriors in 2017. She led the Warriors with 309 kills and a 3.59 kills per set average on the year, attacking at a .271 clip. She also led the team with 280 digs and a 3.26 digs per set average. Waters also tallied 28 blocks and 35 service aces on the year. She led the team with 13 double-doubles and posted a team-season high 27 kills on Sept. 15 against Grossmont.

In her two years at ECC, Waters posted 572 kills and a 3.21 kills per set average in 53 matches, playing in 178 sets. Waters attacked at a .262 percentage and posted 499 digs in her career, a 2.80 per set average. She recorded 61 blocks and 59 service aces in two years with the Warriors.

The outside hitter helped lead the Warriors to the team's eighth straight South Coast Conference title and a 20-5 overall record.
