Three Players Tally Double-Digit Kills in Sweep over Cerritos

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College secured its fifth straight victory on Wednesday night, downing Cerritos 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-15) in a South Coast Conference-South Division contest at the ECC South Gym.

The Warriors (16-4, 4-1) got double-digit kill performances from Jaylin Motley (13), Jerephina Leilua (11) and Aiko Waters (10) to help lead them to an easy win over the Falcons (1-18, 1-4). Leilua posted a .429 attacking percentage (11-2-21) while Sophia Loiola was perfect offensively with four kills on four swings.

Kiana Takahashi posted a match-high 20 digs while Sarah Dyer (22) and Keily Morimoto (19) combined for 41 assists and set the Warriors to a .343 percentage (45-10-102).

For the Falcons, Jody Suski led the way with seven kills while also leading the team with 10 assists.

The Warriors jumped on the Falcons early, using an 11-0 scoring run in the first set to break a 4-4 tie early on and they cruised to an easy victory in the opening frame.

In the second, the Warriors continued to dominate as they led the frame wire-to-wire, attacking at a .417 clip and getting seven kills from Leilua in the frame along with five apiece from Waters and Motley.

In the most competitive game of the match, the Falcons hung around with the Warriors early and held a 12-11 lead at one point. The teams were tied seven times and trade the lead on three occasions before an 8-1 scoring run gave ECC a five-point cushion and they never looked back.

The Warriors will play their final road match of the season this Friday night when they head to L.A. Trade Tech. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
