Volleyball's Run Falls Short in Semis at Cerritos Tournament

Norwalk, Calif. - After four-straight sweeps, the women's volleyball team fell to MiraCosta in four sets in the semifinals of the Cerritos Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (7-1) defeated Imperial Valley (25-21, 25-11, 25-10), Cuesta (25-21, 25-22, 25-13), and Santa Monica (25-7, 25-21, 25-9) in pool play before sweeping San Diego (25-21, 25-16, 25-16) in the first round of playoffs.

Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Brydon (Torrance, Calif.) led the offense for the Warriors with 64 kills on the weekend, leading all hitters in nearly each match. Sophomore Brookyn Rubio (Torrance, Calif.) paced the defense with 59 digs.

The women's volleyball team hosts San Diego Mesa, Grossmont, and College of the Canyons on Friday, Sept. 16. The Warriors will face San Diego Mesa at 11 a.m. and Grossmont at 5 p.m. in the South Gym.
