Track and Field Has Standout Performances at SCC Preliminaries

TORRANCE, Calif. - The track & field teams continue to improve their marks, giving top performances at the South Coast Conference Preliminaries which took place at El Camino on Tuesday, April 25th.

Shakura Tyler had a leading qualifying time in the women's 100 meter hurdles with her 13.98 mark, which moves her to 4th All-Time ECC Performer.

Justin Alexander continues to hold the number one spot in southern California in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 51.42. Alex Castro earned a new personal best with a number three seed time of 54.17.

The Heinemann twins had solid performances in the javelin final for the Warriors. Kevin placed 2nd at 162-1 while Travis was right behind him in 3rd at 159'0.

Nicole Clark was passed in the last round of the javelin but still had a solid performance to earn 2nd place at 139-4.

Sierra Peterson was among the leading qualifiers in the 200 meter (25.03) and went on to finish the 100 meter in 11.99 (4th place).

Finals are set to take place on Friday and will begin with the field events at 1 p.m. with the running events set for 2:30 p.m.
