Warriors Compete in UCLA Legends Invitational and Continue to Improve Their Records

LOS ANGELES - The Warriors were invited to participate in UCLA's Legends Invitational. Both teams fared well as they competed against top teams such as UCLA, Cornell, and Minnesota. Several Warriors continue to earn state-leading bests, including sophomore Justin Alexander.

Alexander placed 2nd overall on the day in the 400 intermediate hurdles, earning a new personal best and leading in the state with 51.69.

The men's 1600 meter relay finished 2nd overall with a season best of 3:17.73. The team included Josue Vargas, Justin Alexander, Jerrett Anderson, and Alex Castro and sit 4th in state.

In the 1500 meter, Israel Cardona came in 5th with a time of 4:05.23. Alex Castro came 2nd in the College section of the 400 meter intermediate hurdles at 54.76.

Nicole Clark placed 4th overall in the javelin, continuing to lead in state at 141-3. Victoria Porter also earned a new personal best, finishing the 800 meter in 7th at 2:15.87, which puts her 2nd in state. Yazmine Al-Uqdah finished 11th in the high jump, putting her at a season best of 5-3 ¾.

Currently ranked 7th in state, Shakura Tyler ended the 100 hurdles with her personal best, 14.59. She placed 3rd in the College section of the long jump at 17-2.

Sierra Peterson earned a 4th place finish in the 100 meter at 12.20.

In the 1600 meter relay, a team consisting of Tyler, Peterson, Ivery Cody, and Porter finished 3rd in the College section with their season best of 4:00.23. The team currently sits 5th in state. The Warriors ended the 400 meter relay 2nd in the College section with their season best of 48.62.

The track & field teams will next compete in the Glendale Vaquero Invite. The hammer and javelin will take place Friday morning at El Camino with the rest of the events taking place Saturday at Glendale College.
