Women’s Tennis Drops Home and Conference Opener
TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered an 8-1 South Coast Conference loss to Mount San Antonio on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Tennis Courts.
The Warriors (0-3, 0-1) managed to win one singles match on the day while a couple of other contests were decided with tiebreakers.
Jhanine Estigoy secured the lone victory for ECC in the No. 4 singles tilt against Joana Cordova-Alva. Estigoy took the opening set, 6-3, before needing a 7-4 win in a tiebreaker in set two to secure the win.
In the No. 5 singles match, Kathy Magallanes won the opening set, 6-3 but dropped the next two in close sets (6-4, 10-7).
In doubles, the Warriors lost the No. 2 matchup 9-8 with a 7-4 score in the tiebreaker.
The Warriors will return to action on Thursday at Victory Valley.
