Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams Both Place 14th at Cuesta Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The men's and women's swimming & diving teams participated in the 39th Annual Cuesta Swim Invitational. Out of 25 teams, both the women's and men's teams placed 14th with Cindy Ngo leading the Warriors in points.

Ngo helped boost the Warriors, accounting for 64 points for El Camino. She blew through the water to finish in 2nd in both the 100 yard freestyle (54.74) and the 50 yard freestyle (25.44). Ngo finished the 200 yard freestyle in 3rd place (2:01.51) while coming in 5th in 50 yard fly. She currently ranks in state 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle (25.19), 4th in the 100 yard freestyle (64.79), and 6th in the 200 yard freestyle (2:01.51).

Amber Sauer finished the 50 yard fly in 8th at 28.98 while coming in 12th at 5:41.19 in the 500 yard freestyle. Samantha Beattie earned 11th in 50 yard fly (29.99) while coming 13th in the 200 yard fly (2:42.18). Bethany Andrade also had a 13th place finish, coming in at 36.35 in the 50 yard breaststroke.

Ryo Kagawa placed in the top 10 for three of his four events. He finished in 3rd place in the 50 yard breastroke (27.86) and 4th in the 200 yard breastroke with 2:15.13. He ended the the 100 yard breastroke in 6th with a time of 1:01.17. Ian Pallares placed in 7th for the Warriors in the 50 yard fly, coming in at 25.18 while Jason Gottschalk finished in 9th in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.11. Sean Hamada came in 14th in the individual medley at 4:48.19.

The Warriors travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, March 17th for a tri-meet against the Mounties and Cerritos College.
