Late Goal Gives Women’s Soccer Win at Compton

COMPTON, Calif. - El Camino College scored a goal late in the 87th minute to give the team a win over Compton College on the road on Tuesday afternoon.  

After being tied for more than half the match, the Warriors (4-4-0, 2-1-0) weren't content on settling for a draw with Compton (3-5-0, 0-2-0).

Robin Riggs took matters into her own hands and scored the go-ahead goal for the Warriors in the 87th minute.  She dribbled into the box from the left side past the keeper and shot it into an open net.

Compton scored the first goal of the game in the 11th minute.  Jeanna Marin scored on assist from Nikki Rosales.

The Warriors found the equalizer in the 33rd minute when Nalleli Mendoza assisted Elizabeth Velasquez, on her first goal of the season.

The Warriors outshot the Tartars 20 to 11.   13 of El Camino shots were on goal compared to Compton's 7.  Rosemary Montalvo made six saves in net for the Warriors.

The Warriors next head on the road for a non-conference matchup at Desert College.  Kick-off is scheduled at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 3rd.
