Rojas Stellar In Goal But El Camino Suffers 1-0 Loss To MiraCosta

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College suffered a 1-0 defeat to MiraCosta College on Friday afternoon at Murdock Stadium.

A late goal in the first half by the Spartans Nicole Marcynyszyn was enough to doom El Camino to consecutive defeats for the week.  In the 44th minute after a long run by MiraCosta's Savannah Trevino, she found Marcynyszyn in the box who put it in the net for the Spartans.

Isabel Rojas was great in goal for the Warriors in the first half as she had to make five saves, with six shots on goal for the Spartans.  Rojas would also go on to play fifteen minutes in the forward position for the Warriors in the second half.

It was a tale of two halves for El Camino.   After allowing 9 shots to the Spartans in the first half, they held the Spartans to zero shots in the second half.  El Camino had the majority of the possession and had seven of their nine shot attempts in the second half.

The Warriors had two close shot attempts that went wide of goal.   But ECC's best attempt came in the 85th minute when Jennifer Vargas hit a speculative shot from the 30 yard line of the field that went over the Spartans goalkeeper off the bottom of the crossbar.  The ball rebounded off the crossbar to Carolyn Medina but her attempt went high.  That would be the closest the Warriors would be to finding the net for the day.

El Camino will look to break their current two game losing streak next Friday at 1:00 PM at Murdock Stadium vs the Dons of Santa Ana.
