Warriors Outmuscle College of the Desert on Friday Night

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College never trailed on Friday night in a 54-38 non-conference victory over visiting College of the Desert at the ECC Gym Complex.
The Warriors (1-6) hauled in 59 rebounds on Friday night including 19 on the offensive glass that resulted in 13 second-chance points. Three players grabbed double-digit rebounds led by Keloa Tauala's career-high 15 boards including five offensive. Harmony Warren grabbed 14 rebounds to go along with nine points and Imani Taitt-Gibbs had 11 boards in just 26 minutes of action.
Teena Ponce led all scorers with 17 points while Warren and Taitt-Gibbs each scored nine points. Tauala also had a team-high four steals while Taitt-Gibbs recorded three blocks.
The battle inside also went the Warriors' way on Friday night as they outscored the Roadrunners (0-11) 28-12 in the paint.
The Warriors will take a week off and return to action next Friday when they take on Oxnard in the annual ECC Christmas Crossover. Tipoff for that game is tentatively set for 7 p.m. pending the results of the prior two games to be played at ECC on Friday.
