TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College dropped a 50-45 South Coast Conference, South Division contest to visiting Cerritos on Wednesday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors (5-18, 1-4) got 27 points and nine rebounds from Brandy Castaneda but could not close out the Falcons (11-13, 3-2) who beat ECC for the second time this season.

Mary Gonzales had eight points and eight rebounds with Teena Ponce adding eight points and three assists in the loss.

Bridgette McIntyre led the Falcons with 16 points while also hauling in six boards and Ashley Miller added nine points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The Warriors trailed for much of the second half but a jumper from Gonzalez with 4:08 left in regulation put the Warriors up 38-37, their first lead since a 5-2 advantage early in the first quarter.

The teams traded the lead a few times until Miller hit a jumper with 1:09 left to break a 43-43 tie. The Falcons would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way and scored the victory.

The Warriors will return to action Friday on the road against Long Beach with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
