Castaneda’s Scores New Career High as Warriors Drop Game to Huskies

TORRANCE, Calif. - Brandy Castaneda scored a new-career high of 34 points on Friday evening in a 71-63 non-conference loss to the East Los Angeles Huskies.  

The Warriors (4-14) dropped their sixth game in a row in Friday's loss to the Huskies (5-15).

The Warriors kept things close for most of the game and were down by three points (34-31) going into halftime.

The Warriors were within 2 points to start the third quarter before ELAC pulled away by reopening a 7-point lead which they maintained for the rest of the game.  

Castaneda was averaging 10 points a quarter until the final quarter where she only scored 4 points.  Teena Ponce added 11 points and 5 assists.

Gabrielle Quintana (24 points) and Isabel Aranjo Gomez (19 points) led the Huskies in scoring.

The Warriors start South Coast Conference play on Wednesday at home when they take on Cerritos College.  Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
