Women’s Basketball Falls to Irvine Valley

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College dropped a 62-45 non-conference matchup against Irvine Valley on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors (1-4) shot just 28.6 percent on the night and 25 percent from beyond the arc as the Lasers (6-0) shot it at a 46 percent clip.

Brandy Castaneda led the Warriors with 22 points while adding five rebounds and three steals. Christina Tsukahira added 12 points  and three assists in the losing effort.

Christen Ziska and Giselle Martinez each scored 10 points to lead the Lasers as 10 different players scored for IVC.

The game was ultimately decided in the first half as the Lasers outscored the Warriors 36-18 in the first 20 minutes.

The second half was nearly even with the Warriors outscoring IVC 27-26 in the final 20 minutes of play.

The Warriors will return to action on Tuesday with a road contest at Glendale with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
