Castaneda’s Career High Helps Warriors Edge Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Brandy Castaneda led all scorers as El Camino College recorded a 62-60 victory over Fullerton on Wednesday night at Fullerton College.

Castaneda dropped a career-high 18 points on 7-for-17 shooting to pace the Warriors (2-1) to their second straight win. Piper Takenaka added 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting and Sarah Downs scored 11 and pulled down seven rebounds in the win.

Destiny Goodloe led the Hornets with 14 points and Janelle Ramos added 10 in a losing effort.

The teams were tied six times and traded the lead on another six occasions. The Warriors trailed by nine at the half and by as many as 14 at one point but they fought back and outscored the Hornets 37-26 in the second half.

The Warriors will return to action on Monday with another road game at Rio Hondo. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
