El Camino College found itself in a close game for three quarters but a dominant showing in the final period helped the Warriors score a 72-61 win over Cerritos in a South Coast Conference, South Division contest Friday night at The Aviary.

Brenna Wilson led the way for the Warriors (16-5, 2-0) with a season-high 18 points after logging her first start of the season. She went 6-for-9 from the field and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc in 22 minutes of action.

The Falcons were led by Serena Rendon's 16 points on 6-for-14 shooting while her sister Jesenia Rendon added 15 points on 6-for-18 from the field. Jade Johnson added 13 points in the loss.

The game went back-and-forth throughout as there were 10 ties and seven lead changes. The Warriors trailed by six points after one but erased that deficit in the second quarter to leave the game deadlocked at 39-39 going into halftime.

The Warriors took a two-point lead at the end of the third and then pulled away in the fourth, holding the Falcons to just six points in the final period, outscoring them by nine points.

With the win, the Warriors remain unbeaten early into conference play and they will look to stay that way when L.A. Southwest comes into the ECC North Gym on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
