Warriors Dominate Santa Monica, Face Irvine Valley in Tournament Final

El Camino College scored its second straight blowout victory Friday night with a 73-39 decision over Santa Monica in the semifinals of the Irvine Valley Tournament.

Salihah Bey led the Warriors (8-2) with a double-double, scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the victory. Ashley Nguyen added 16 points and six assists with five steals while Jordan Hixon scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds. Makenna Peneueta led the team with eight assists.

The Warriors jumped out to a 15-point lead against the Corsairs (4-7), outscoring them 19-4 in the first quarter. The team never looked back as they led the game wire-to-wire. They forced 26 Santa Monica turnovers and outscored them 28-14 in the paint.

With the win, the Warriors will play for their second straight tournament championship as they take on hosts Irvine Valley on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
