Shaw, Bibb Earn Top Honors as All-Conference Teams Announced

2017-18 All-South Coast Conference Teams

El Camino College took home two of the top three awards as the 2017-18 All South Coast Conference Women's Basketball Teams were announced Wednesday.

Head coach Steve Shaw earned his second SCC Coach of the Year award after leading the Warriors to a 20-6 record and 8-0 mark in conference play. The Warriors won their second straight SCC, South Division crown and third in the last four years and fourth all-time.

Sophomore Kayla Bibb was named the SCC South Division Player of the Year, earning her second straight All-SCC First Team selection in the process. Bibb averaged 15.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game along with 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocks this season.

Along with Bibb, Hunter Noa and Nao Shiota were each named to the All-SCC First Team. Noa earned her second straight selection to the All-SCC team after earning a second team nod last year.

Noa averaged 6.5 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds and two assists on the season. Shiota had a solid freshman campaign for the Warriors, averaging 11 points, 4.2 assists and 2.3 steals a game on the year.

Amiete Nyingifa and Makenna Peneueta rounded out the Warriors selections to the All-SCC team, earning second team nods. Nyingifa earned her second straight selection to the All-SCC team after averaging 10.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Peneueta averaged 5.9 points and four assists per game on the season to earn a selection.

The Warriors will host West Los Angeles on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the ECC North Gym in their opening game of the CCCAA Playoffs.
