Warriors Earn No. 6 Seed, Will Host West Los Angeles in First Round of Playoffs

El Camino College has earned the No. 6 seed in the 2017-18 California Community College Athletics Association playoffs and will host No. 11 West Los Angeles on Friday night at the ECC North Gym.

Tipoff for the game will be 7 p.m. and it will be the second time the teams have met this season. The Warriors had their six-game winning streak to start the regular season snapped by the Cougars on Nov. 28, a 53-49 decision in favor of West L.A.

The Warriors led by 10 at the half in that game but were outscored 18-4 in the third quarter and that proved to be the difference. The Cougars reserves also outscored the Warriors bench 15-2 en route to the win.

In 2017-18, the Warriors finished the regular season with a 20-6 overall record and went undefeated in South Coast Conference, South Division action at 8-0. They secured their second straight SCC, South Division crown; third in the last four years and fourth all-time.

The Cougars claimed their own conference title this season, winning a share of the Western State Conference, South Division title with College of the Canyons. They finished the year with a 22-5 overall record and 7-1 mark in conference play.

The Warriors and Cougars are positioned on the right-side of the CCCAA Southern California Bracket with the No. 2 seed Mount San Antonio as the top seed in the section. The winner of the Warriors-Cougars game will face the winner of the game between No. 3 seed Mount San Jacinto (27-2) and either Pasadena City or San Diego City.
