Bibb Leads the Charge as Warriors Beat Cerritos

Kayla Bibb recorded a double-double as El Camino College defeated Cerritos College 68-47 in a South Coast Conference, South Division contest Friday evening at The Aviary.

Bibb poured in a game-high 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds to help the Warriors record their fifth straight win and stay unbeated in conference. Amiete Nyingifa added 10 points and eight rebounds while Jenna Krynen also scored 10 points in 17 minutes off the bench.

For the Falcons, Jesenia Rendon led the way with 18 points but was just 5-for-19 from the field. She was also the only player to tally double figures for Cerritos as the Warriors defense held the Falcons to 30.9 percent shooting.

The game was close early as the Warriors led by just three points after one quarter and held a four-point lead by halftime.

The Falcons trimmed that lead to two early in the third quarter but the Warriors mounted an 8-0 run to build up a double-digit lead. It set the tone for the rest of the half as the Warriors outscored Cerritos 39-22 in the final 20 minutes to pull out a comfortable victory.

The Warriors will return home and look for their sixth straight win on Wednesdsay night when they host L.A. Southwest at the ECC North Gym. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
