Warriors Advance to Consolation Championship with Rout of Saddleback

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Four players scored in double figures and El Camino College never trailed in a 79-41 victory over Saddleback Tuesday afternoon in the consolation bracket of the Erin Tomlinson Coast Christmas Classic hosted by Orange Coast College.

The Warriors advance to the consolation title game on Wednesday where they will face the winner of the Orange Coast-Ventura game.

Kayla Bibb led the way for ECC with 16 points and eight rebounds with five steals. Hunter Noa scored 13 and added eight boards and four steals. Nao Shiota chipped in with 10 points and six assists with Micaela Enriquez scoring 10 points as well.

The Warriors jumped out to a fast start, taking a 15-point lead after one quarter as they outscored the Gauchos 22-7 in the opening period. The lead was down to 12 at halftime but the Warriors pulled away in the second half, outscoring Saddleback 41-15 in the final 20 minutes including a 19-5 edge in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors shot 51.8 percent from the floor while holding the Gauchos to 30.2 percent and outrebounding Saddleback 37-18. The Warriors also had 18 assists on 29 made field goals and outscored the Gauchos on the inside with a 40-12 advantage in points in the paint.
